Good article on Stephanie, her riding accident and coming back to win the season at The Chronicle of the Horse…
Stephanie Cook’s goal for the year with Texas Checkmate was to top the Take2 Thoroughbred League’s jumper standings, but a rotational fall from another horse in May resulted in a broken pelvis, a broken C-5 vertebrae and 12 broken ribs and seemingly ended that campaign.
But with the help of good friends and a lot of determination, Cook endured 12 weeks of rehab, “Checkers” continued earning points, and she was back in the saddle in time to finish out the season and win the 2015 year-end standings.
Reaching out to any classmates who might know of any possible internships available for a History / Poly Science major (my son Nick). He is actively reaching out to as many possible venues — I am simply trying to broaden the search. Any help would be greatly appreciated. He has done a couple of internships with the Buckeye Institute in Columbus, Ohio and another with ISI (Intercollegiate Studies Institute).
Dave McCormick spoke at the West Point Society of New York for Founders Day and that talk has been adapted into an article at War on the Rock.
